[Kajabi How To] Merge "Same Customer" Records

One sign of a successful Kajabi account is when you have the same customer sign up for and/or purchase more than one of your offerings. Normally, when they go to sign up for a second or subsequent time, Kajabi will prompt them to log in if it recognizes their email in your system.

Links in blog posts may be affiliate links. At no extra cost to you, if you click one and make a purchase, I may receive a commission for having referred you.

However, sometimes people either start off that second purchase using another one of their email addresses OR when Kajabi prompts them to sign in, they can't remember their login info so they purposely use a different email (even though they could've used the "forgot your password?" option). Hey, we get it. We've all been there, lol.

The issue it causes for you, the Kajabi user, is that you want ALL of one person's data to be in one place - name, email, payment and purchase info, etc. So you may have the question: How do I merge "same customer" data into one People record?

Currently, there's no straightforward solution for that in Kajabi but, as always, I have a workaround for you! What you can do is decide which of their records you want to be the primary one, then grant them any other Offers they own, add other tags they may have, etc. and delete the records you're no longer using (with caution!)*. The instructions to do all 3 of those are here: Using Bulk Actions in the People Tab.

*Before deleting any customer records, make sure you don't need their data to comply with legal or financial requirements, for history, etc. To delete or not to delete is completely up to YOU. You could also take screenshots before deleting anything and keep them on file should they ever be needed.

As a last step, to avoid any confusion later (like when you notice their total paid doesn't match the total items they have), make sure to put notes in their record to explain what you did.

Until Kajabi makes merging customer records possible, this is a way you can handle the "duplicate customer" issue.
